Triplicane is a Muslim dominated place in Chennai which is closer by Marina Beach. The 7th Muharram procession is held here where many Shias gather for Azadaari (Mourning the Shahadat of Imam Hussain (as) and His sacred Household in 61 A.H at Karbala). There is a famous Imam Baargah called as Siya Aastana. Siya means Black. During Muharram the whole Aastana is covered with long Black cloth. There is a Masjid near Siya Aastana. An Imam Baargah/ Aashurkhana is attached to the Masjid. Quranic Study Circle classes are held here. Moulana Naqi Hasnain Saahib is the Imam e Jamaat at Triplicane Mosque. (More)
